Starting point. Crucial one. Where he is going to start was going to dictate the final destination.
He opened his tools chest. Lying in it were his chisels and hammers. Chisels were of different types. There was a claw chisel, flat chisel, pointed and a rounded one. There was a boucharde hammer and a pointed hammer. Each one was unique. Before understanding stone and his ideas had to understand his tools for him they were his extensions. They were the enablers.
In the beginning, his master taught him how to use tools. In fact most crucial part he felt was how not to use tools. Possibility of more damage over good.
He was well aware that the tools in principal didn't do anything. They don't have will of their own. They don't think, they don't act, they don't feel, they don't judge but enable, obey and do what they are supposed to do. Tools neither created energy nor did they destroy it. They didn't resist, they neither consume a mass of energy in transition or let it be lost. They passed on the force he applied on to the marble. It was that definition and a purpose of a good tool, that he believed in.
